Why SERP Preview Matters

Your title and meta description are like a movie trailer for your page. They're often the only thing a Google user sees before deciding whether to click. Get them wrong, and your page can rank #1 with terrible click-through rate. Get them right, and you can outrank competitors just because more people click.

The Golden Rules

  • Title: 50-60 characters. Put your main keyword near the front. Make it click-worthy.
  • Description: 140-160 characters. Tell users WHY they should click. Include your keyword naturally.
  • Both: Should match what's actually on your page. Don't clickbait.
  • Truth in 2026: Google sometimes rewrites your description. But if yours is clear and matches the search, Google usually keeps it.
